RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:OmicronThe news is just out here, 80% of covid cases in the province of Quebec are from omicron. We got a bit above 5,000 new cases today and 8 deaths. All that with 90% vaccination rate. Imagine what it will do in some states in the US that only have 60% vaccination rate.
While taking a walk in a snowy forest up north here, I just listened to a podcast featuring Dr. Eric Topol. He too thinks that the Pfizer antiviral drug could be a big part of the solution to covid, at least with the variants we have now. The problem is that the drug will come too late for most in this omicron wildfire.

But imagine if we would have mandatory vaccination (significative fines for the unvaxed), our vaccination rate would be somewhere above 97% and we would not have more than one death per day on average, probably less. We still have 4 deaths per day because of our 10 % of unvaxed people. Deniers, conspirasionists and selfish people can say what they want, the facts are stubborn. The higher the vaccination rate is, the more lives are saved. This is the reality, and here, people will rush to get the third dose. It will help to minimize the number of deaths when omicron will totally take over with its very high transmisibility.
