These are interesting times. All of us -- as readers -- are constantly confronted with decisions about what to trust and what not to trust, or how to determine the level of spin in a factual story.
We need touchstones ... moral landmarks. One of mine -- usually! -- is that I just stop reading or interacting with people who are in it for the FUD. I'm happy to see that certain esteemed colleagues have the time and energy to take up cudgels, and I'll help support the cause now & again from way back in the supply line, but in the long run it's most profitable (in every sense) to focus only on the good info and analysis, whether it's negative or positive.
Another touchstone: I don't invest in companies when I don't trust that its leaders are driven to do the right thing. John Chen, Prem Watsa, Elon Musk, Cathie Wood (of Ark), Darren Gee (of Peyto) ... they're all good people. They make mistakes, obviously, but attempts to spin those mistakes as coming from some sort of sleazy place are nothing more than projections of the writer's sleaziness.
