Neo Performance Materials Inc. is a Canada-based company, which is engaged in the green energy transition by manufacturing the building blocks of many technologies that enhance sustainability. The Rare Metals segment sources, reclaims, produces, refines, and markets specialty metals and their compounds. These products include both high-temperature metals (tantalum, niobium, hafnium and rhenium) and electronic metals (gallium and indium).

NEO vs MP

Q: For the potential surge in EV stocks in 2022, I am considering investing in rare earths and am trying to decide between Neo Performance in Canada or MP materials in US. Which one do you feel is better for longer term in the EV sector?

NEO is smaller than MP by about a factor of 9, but it is much much cheaper. Both have strong balance sheets but NEO pays a nice dividend. MP is expected to show faster growth next year. We would side with NEO at 11X earnings vs 55X for MP.
