RE:RE:Omicron will fizzle the pandemicYes, a new varient can show up any day, or not show up at all. But as they say "it ain't over until the fat lady sings"
There has now been a case of mutual infection, where one person is infected by both the Delta and the Omnicron varients at the same time. This can be very scary. If both varients infect the same human cell at the same time the viral straids of both varieties can be co-mingled in one new virus body. There is the possibility of a new strain that is as dangerous as Delta and as contaigious as Omnicron can be made. When the new virus body is being assembled inside the human cell there is no real sorting mechanism to insure that only original RNA/DNA strands get put into the new virus.
Read the book "The Hot Zone" a true account of an Ebola outbreak in a monkey quarantine station across the river from Washington D. C.
The Ebola strain mutated so that it was airborne contagious and quicly spread through the station until the Army USAMRIID stepped in and sterilized the whole building and killed alll the remaining monkies. BUT when it mutated to being an airborne virus it also lost its mortality threat against humans. Now the virus has been renamed so it is no longer Ebola. Changes can happen very quickly in the viral world.
