Random Thoughts
It’s been awhile since I posted anything. My son was home for ten days and we made the most of our time together.  We drank some rum. He’s a Krachen  guy. Me, not so much. We skate skied at the local ski club a couple of times.  I can still match his pace, barely.  And we talked about gold and crypto. He’s a crypto guy.  I think in the end  he came to the realization that governments will eventually  crack down on  crypto.

The market's reaction to NFG’s  excellent news release is disappointing but not unusual.  It’s very much the new normal.  The stock market operates like a giant board game that is totally divorced from reality. There was a time, and most on this board remember it,that  when a company issued  good news the stock had a run up.  Now it’s sell the news.  The change occured many years ago when governments  deregulated  the financial  services industry  to make it more  competitive. Deregulation allowed  a whole new sub-industry to emerge such as professional traders and hedge funds. Banks got into the act and established trading arms. None of these give a hoot about the fundamentals of a company. They operate strictly on the basis of algos and the like. The result is that we get the response we saw today. It’s a brave new world where the little investor, particularly the newbie, regularly gets fleeced. It appears that no one here is a newbie. However it can’t be said too ofter that one should never play with money obtained by taking out a second mortgage of raiding an RRSP.  That’s enough as I’m beginning to sound preachy.

To keep this board civil we all need to practise civility. We should accord others the respect that we expect.  With the lack of news some posters have been going off topic  and at times this practice has led to personal  attacks and put downs. You don’t have to respond to something you don’t agree with or don’t like with a put down. If the best you can muster is a put down  it’s best to ignore or, if you must, put the poster on ignore. It’s easy to be agressive when you are hiding behind a pseudonym.

NFG continues to be very busy here in Gander. Work on the new building has resumed and there is lots of activity at the core shack. Just before Christmas I saw a flatbed filled with core boxes,  being escorted by white pickups with flashing lights, heading east on the TCH toward the core shack. Looked good to me!

Finally, I heard a rumour during the holidays of a new discovery. It came from a person with some credibility who quickly realized  what they had  said and went silent.  And that’s all i know which isbasically nothing!
