High salinity salt water is very easy to process, it's done daily and is an expected by-product of oil production. Actually 100's of millions of barrels of salt water are produced every day around the world whether it's Saudi arabia, Brazi,l US, Russia etc...it's a given. Most production equipment is built for it. It is separated and injected back into the reservoir for pressure maintenance or as waste water into formations above or bellow the producing zone.
And there is lot's of processing capabilty for the 'sludge' as hydrocabon processing infrastructure has been in place in Trinidad for decades. It's a very mature producing area.
I agree with Jake1444 in the sense that it's all about the volume of oil that is assciated with the salt water in terms of water cuts and fluid volumes etc. The sustained oil rates determine whether the well is commercial or not.
