Comparing OBE and YGR is an interesting one for the following reason.
OBE's 2022 stated strategy is to start paying (or at least declaring) a dividend sometime (mid) this year. We don't know the size of the dividend or their intended payout ratio. The expectation is it will not be a vestigial dividend.
YGR 2022 stated strategy is to focus in growing production. (about 20% ish)
Yes, they are both going to be growing production and both paying down debt - but those are secondary to their stated strategy (stated to this point).
These two different strategys will be valued differently by the market.
In the past, the market valued growth.
It seems now the market values dividends.
This year's share price movement of OBE vs YGR will be interesting to watch to see if this market pricing trend continues.
