Yes the dividend is and always has been the reason for owning bp rds etc as there is no growth there...go up and down and up again that's all they do. As to the future, we are in turbulent times of change. These oil majors have huge advantages in thier infrastructure and global presence so that is thier moat. But how they manage going forward is anyone's guess. No one can afford to be complacent these days and studying emerging trends is more urgent than ever before
