I consider a biotech company with no sales and burning cash to fund clinical studies as very high risk, or a cleantech fuel cell company burning cash and trading at a very high valuation as very high risk.

Contrast that to the downside of a company with a share price at book value, scaling its business supported by strong industry tailwinds and experienced management (and a strong BOD), solidly increasing revenues, identifying and overcoming growing pains, and at the edge of becoming EBITDA positive as medium risk.
