If I compare 2 companies value now I use Market cap, but this not what I am doing. I am comparing shareholder's investment returns since 2016 to now in 2 companies.
If I had invested $60 in BTE and $60 in MEG at the same time back in 2016, I could have bought approximately 10 shares of BTE and 9 share of MEG and my $60 investment in BTE would be $46 today loosing $14 and in MEG my $60 would be $135 making $75 profit, so $135 is 3 times of $46. You calculate how you want to, but the reality for a shareholder is return on his/her investment.
