I almost don't care about options. 

Yes, they can be abusive rewards hurting retail shareholders, but that is not a rule.  They are also used to attract the best talent available, especially in the case of BOD members who earn nothing else from the company.  That is what I see here, though I am no oracle pretending visions of the truth.
