My opinion...well it all depends on the economic development plans for the NW region. And still unclear. Market is not mature as Orsted commented. 

Oceanic's statement which has been repeated for a few years, supports this view. 

So what are we waiting for? LNG Canada Phase Two? But that decision would be made by 2025 at the latest. And then have to assume maybe more electrified? My guess is there will be a carbon capture idea introduced, but power will still be generated by natural gas.

So what other major economic initiatives are on the books for the region, so that the windfarm can go ahead? When this windfarm idea came about  2003? there were 20+ proposals for LNG projects. And now just a few remain.

Maybe Kitimat LNG will find buyers.

All the rest is talk about a hydrogen hub, fertilizer plant, a bitumen refinery of all things, etc.

Who knows how long we will have to wait. As time passes, offshore wind will be competitive with long-term energy prices in BC and costs will continue to drop with larger and more efficient turbines, along with other improvements.

Wait long enough and 20MW turbines will be the norm.

Just want to mention--future fuel for marine applications around the world---green methanol ideally.
 

An idea for the NW region. Maybe Shell can build facilities, and would use a lot of renewable electricity.

 

Finally, place turbines out 25 miles offshore, won't see them from land. Here is a US example--What would a wind farm off the NC coast look like from the beach? Here’s an idea. (yahoo.com)
