Management Discussion & Analysis - Jan 28thAs I've stated, my own personal opinion, there is no basis to conclude BAT or even PM is looking at acquiring PODA. This kind of speculation is fun to talk about and serves only as entertainment at this point. I hope I'm wrong because that would be nice for investors but nothing the company has stated and is doing publicly leads me to that conclusion.
Folks this is from the MD&A the company posted on Jan 28th on Sedar which accompanies and is to be read with their financials. Their timelines may have changed as it relates to successful commercialization of their product to fiscal 2022 rather than simply stating, the beginning of 2022 which many of us anticipated. It does state that manufacturing has commenced and additional financing opportunties and distribution parters are being sought (ie. Landewyck etc.).
Patience will be required on this play:
"Poda is currently manufacturing both the Poda heating device and the Poda pods. The investment in Poda is intended to provide a revenue-generating business upon successful commercialization of the product, expected for fiscal 2022. To date, working prototypes have been completed, manufacturers have been selected and manufacturing has commenced, and additional financing opportunities and distribution partners are being sought."
It also states:
"Poda intends to launch a number of device models across a variety of price points. Some devices may have the ability to connect to users’ smartphones via Bluetooth, providing granular control of temperature and other parameters. Poda smart devices can allow consumers to design their own temperature profiles and customize a wide range of other operational parameters. Poda devices with smartphone-enabled technology will likely be released after the initial Poda devices (without smartphone connectivity) enter the market."
Of course, the bluetooth devices are meant to compete with what companies like PODA and BAT are doing but the company is no where near launching those. They need to get their initial PODA devices to the market first. So that's where things stand as far as I can read from their filings.
