RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Net Zero Today With RNGI'll see if this will be my last post here on VFF on the board here;
The VFF report may be old, published in 2019, but it's relevant, you still have the same CEO who has partnered with shady promoters
"In 2017, Village Farms was a failed tomato farmer on the brink of bankruptcy that found a way to revitalize its stock price with a “joint venture” with Emerald Health Therapeutics, Pure Sunfarms, to enter the cannabis growing market. This along with a paid stock promotion has resulted in a vertical move in the stock."
Profitabiliity is questionable, operating income has has been negative for the past 5 years, strip out the positive contribution of Special Income Charges of $27M and $13.5M for the past 2 years int he income statement and you have negative net income for the last 5 years.
For the reasons that XBC is speculative, that can be said about VFF as well. I would say that the cannabis space is much more competitive than the niche area that XBC is playing in, mainly dairy RNG. Low barriers to entry and consumer tastes can switch more quickly in brands vs biogas upgrading technology. VFF's cash position dropped $40M from Q2 to Q3 and they have $80M at end of Q3. Having purchased Rose Life Sciences for $47M post Q3, they have about $60M in cash. They could be taking on more than they can chew with this purchase. They may face the need to raise capital just as you said for XBC.
ferret_ca wrote: Ciao that vff report is complete hogwash and is very old. Vff is profitable and has been for a long time. They own all their production. They were profitable before they got into cannabis .they have great products with a large market share. Vff is a stock I don't have to keep an eye on, just add to when beat up. March 1 is their q report and company discussion. It is an easy double or more from here. Take a good look at it. It's only a 3% position for me as it's a small cap. Also very well positioned in the USA.
Tony I suggest you go back and re read the last 3q financials AND the companies comments on them, near the end they state all the risks involved. You seem to only read the positives with rose colored glasses on, imho you are brainwashed by the likes of the titanic. Shareholder equity has dropped in each and working capital ratios are rapidly dropping.
- Denver seems cheap yes, many others were not jury is still out on how all this works out
- air liquid is a massive co. That deals with hundreds of bit players andas their iron in so many fires it's mind boggling. I use to own and follow it an am sorry I ever sold it. There are no guarantees on how much xbc makes on this, while it is a good thing, again the jury is out on just how meaningful it will be.
- that research grant is peanuts, and does sfa to negate any other new techs in which hundreds of millions are being thrown at, it's a quickly evolving industry with huge players, wake up!
By the way my initial post on this was only a response to filoux's question to me, and was all jmho. This is a bb, you don't like my comments iggy me please as I have done with the likes of the titanic, zou, and a few others. I not interested in debating this with people with blinders on.
Cheers ferret life is grand in the Algarve, love it
