RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Upcoming patient dataI can understand opting out, especially considering the age factor of a patient. From personal experience I was diagnosed with an oral cancer at age 83. I understand this was a completely different experience, but my first reaction was, "what the heck, I'm 83 and have had a pretty good life just let it run its course I don't want an operation which may or may not be successful plus any ensuing treatments.". Luckily my Doc convinced me otherwise. That was over 3 years ago and I'm still having a pretty good life. My point being the older you get the dumber some of your decicions can be, or to put it another way, the more accepting of your fate. Age can certainly be a factor in opting out of continuing treatments.
