RE:RE:RE:What If?Of course they have right to protest, but they don't have the right to take away other people's living and work space. They don't have the right to stop children sleeping at night. You talk about trucker's rights in a one sided manner. The people of Ottawa have rights too, and you cannot ignore that.
I will agree with one thing. The freezing of their bank accounts is unprecedented but remember this is first time we have seen this law in action. There will be a chance for judges to review the law and insist of ammendments where necessary. It is also worth pointing out that emergency powers have to be ratified by parliament in both houses, so you cannot just start doing this stuff whenever the PM feels like it. I am not cheering on a PM or our conservative premier Doug Ford or any other politician who wants an end to this nonsense. I am supporting the families who rights were taken away from them. There are many ways to protest and truckers did not have to do this to them.
Truckers are clearly not delivering our food when they are in Ottawa doing nothing except acting like they are at a party for 24 hours a day and living off donations while doing it. You are not really so naive to believe that the protesters represent all truckers in Canada? 90% of truckers in Canada are vaccinated; they doing their jobs and working hard for their families. Those are the truckers I admire.
These truckers are not standing up for our rights, only for their selfish point of view and their actions are not supported by the majority of canadians. They certainly don't support democracy. I have lived in under a real dictatorship so I cherish democracy. In a democracy there have to be both winners and losers through a voting system. The problem we have today is that there are too many people on both sides of the political spectrum who cannot accept being on the losing side. Winning has become more important than supporting the democratic system that allows them to express their point of view without harm to others and themselves.
