DeepdiveN wrote: In May 1997, at the NATO Summit in Paris, France, NATO and Russia signed the Founding Act on Mutual Relations, Cooperation and Security, a road map for would-be NATO-Russia cooperation. NATO said it had no plans to station nuclear weapons in the new (!) member states or send in new permanent military forces. These are the official historical facts. Seems your oppinion is very much aligned with the official Russian twist and definetely misplaced in the DNT forum. Regards from Germany as well

Historically needed to add Americans weren´t pleased by idea of Russians missiles in Cuba in 1962, but to have military bases tens ok km from Russian border - it ´s apparently cool and who cares that Russian dictator Putin doesn´t want it?

First negotiation was in 1991 during reunion of Germany with handshake that NATO will not expand to the eastern Europe, second in Paris 1997.

I believe for Ukrainians it wasn´t a theme until Maidan "orange revolution, some could call it coup d´tat. Eastern part of Ukraine stayed pro-Russian, these people had very negative experiences with Ukrainian "pro-western" politicians which were characterized mainly by kleptomania ( Yulia Timoscenkova etc.)

Zelenskyj had more than a month to negotiate with Putin on 2 points - Donbass/Luhansk autonomy and non-entry to NATO, but he blindly believed American and British representatives that they will stand side by side with Ukrainians against Putin´s agression. Such stupidity - never in history of the world any superpower didn´t defend small country against another superpower, on top of that when the enemy has nuclear and hypersonic weapons.
The result is just now fratricidal struggle in Ukraina, Putin has a sticker of a new Hitler ( wasn´t he Austrian?) and Biden and Johnson are in the lee and satisfied like disrupted European continent partnership, eastern countries ( mainly Poland and Baltic republics) are upset at moderate Germany, France, Italy, US will reach to stop Nord Stream II., Johnson is glad media are writing about Putin´s agression and not about Downing street 9 parties. I would like to know if this guy would pass though drug test personally...

Regards from Czech Republic as well
