Surge Energy Inc (Alberta) T.SGY

Alternate Symbol(s):  ZPTAF | T.SGY.DB.B

Surge Energy Inc. is a Canada-based oil focused exploration and production (E&P) company. The Company's business consists of the exploration, development and production of oil and gas from properties in Western Canada. It holds focused and operated light and medium gravity crude oil properties in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, characterized by large oil in place crude oil reservoirs with low recovery factors. It offers exposure to two of the five conventional oil growth plays in Canada: the Sparky and SE Saskatchewan. It holds a dominant land position and is drilling a mix of horizontal multi-frac and horizontal multi-lateral wells in the Sparky area. Sparky is a large, well established oil producing fairway in Western Canada. SE Saskatchewan is a focused operated asset base with light oil operating netbacks. SE Saskatchewan operates low-cost wells with short payouts and offers potential for continued area consolidation.

RE:News coming?

RE:News coming?I could be wrong but my read of the stock's price pop is just more focused accumulation by position builders.  There will be a release of the Annual Report in the near future which will contain updated reserves which will probably have a great story to tell.  I'm a bit of a conservative reseve booker myself (I don't like to book anything that I'm not reasonably sure will be budgeted) and I don't think Surge likes to book willy nilly either so those numbers will give a good look at how those Sask acquisitions have changed the company.  I remember looking at their Montney oil play a number of years ago and remembering it looked pretty good even when oil was lower than it is now so if the economics are solidly positive I don't know why they'd sell it - unless it's a premium offer which given today's tight access to investment I'm not expecting.  Still whatever the main reason for the stock price pop it's really nice to see.
