RE:Ore body
RE:Ore bodyyou are comparing time lines that cannot be compared, when Island Gold was uncapped from closure, the ramp was at around 140 metres, the mine had been worked for around 2 years as Canamax, then put into closure. It was always known that the ore body became more consistent at depth, that means broader working stopes with more consistenty higher grades, that has been borne out over time.
There is a LOT known about Red Lake geology, it has after all been mined for a century, but too there are often differences in geologic structure at various depths, what is common at 50 or 100m is not necessarily common at 500m. The known engineering and works of players like Goldcorp should be very helpful, but every effort has its own quirks.
One of the things that Island Gold had was investor tours of the mine, to date I have not heard of PGM doing that, it went a long way towards having a more knowledgeable investor base, I am sure PGM must do them with more significant investors, but those folks don't come on to this thread to reveal what they found out.
