Barrick Gold Edges Up After Hours as Stake in Reunion Gold Falls Below 10%

11 Mar 2022 16:39 ET

04:39 PM EST, 03/11/2022 (MT Newswires) -- Barrick Gold (ABX.TO, GOLD) edged up in after-hours New York trading after the company on Friday said its stake in Reunion Gold (RGD.V) dropped below 10% after it declined to participate in a private placement offered by that company.

Barrick said it continues to hold 81.15-million Reunion shares, but its stake has now fallen 9.9875% and the company will cede unspecified rights granted by Reunion for maintaining a 10% or greater stake, but retains others.

"Barrick continues to have a right of first refusal under the investor rights agreement in respect of certain mineral projects that are subject to the strategic alliance agreement entered into between Barrick and Reunion on February 3, 2019 as well as Reunion's Dorlin, Haute Mana and Boulanger Projects," it said in a release.

Barrick shares were last seen up US$0.01 to US$24.36 after hours. They closed down C$0.24 to C$31.05 on the Toronto Stock Stock Exchange.
