I did a quick check into this Si Carbide supply chain risk angle about a month ago. <<Weird, we almost on the same page>>
In general (pun) GE has many 100s of foundries over USA and around the world.
More specifically, a 2017 article, placed GE making/or improving process to produce 4" and 6" Si Carbide wafers in NY.
It appears the Si Carbide is very hard to produce, and expensive, and requiring elevated high heat.
Another (large?) company produces Si Carbide in ... yikes ... Germany.
BTW Si Carbide is slowly entering Aviation, and solar, and EV battery chargers (like Tesla super dupper hi speed recharger).
