Perhaps the market had more than ample warning and entirely discounted and factored in the FED's very gentle rate rise?

To me they are playing with fire, inflation fire, being too reluctant to beat back the stock market and perhaps slow the economy.

Anyway the sky did not fall at 2 pm yesterday.  I can come out of my bomb shelter.  Except that rat in the Kremlin is not making me feel too great these days.  I knew he was a mean little         but now he seems a bit screwy as well. That's no good for anybody ... except gold investors?

Agree CG.  I think everyone on planet Earth knew it was going to be 25 basis points.  However, the Fed is very much in a box.  Too aggressive and the market tanks.  Not enough and inflation runs the full course until recession puts a lid on wages and prices.  The question for me is whether "too aggressive" and "not aggressive enough" are overlapping in terms of Fed actions.  In other words if the Fed increases by 100 basis points this year, does that tank the market and also allow inflation to continue higher?  I think maybe so.

As far as Putin goes, every time a world leader doesn't act the way we like, we now conclude that they have a major brain issue.  Biden's "cognitive decline" and Putin's "Parkinsons/cancer treatment/steroid use" personality disorders and of course Trump was "just plain nuts and going to start WWIII."  The most recent Putin speech, if you substitute the word "unvaccinated" for whatever characteristics he didn't like, sounds very much like something Trudeau or Biden or any member of their cabinets has already said many times.  We shut down Russia's central bank accounts, Trudeau shut down the truckers' personal bank accounts.  I fail to see a material difference.  Although I have documented exemptions from all vaccinations from my medical team, I've been waiting for someone to show up at my door and escort me to a re-education camp in China where I spend the rest of my life manufacturing iPhones and Nike sneakers with my new Uyghur friends.  My sense is that the same old media games in an attempt to influence people just aren't working any more.  Would not mind your input on that sir.
