Clearly flow batteries received lots of attention recently. Utility scale energy storing systems are being tendered in increasing numbers but so far I haven't heard much of flow batteries winning these tenders. In Li-Ion there is better known competition and while these have to deal with their own disadvantages (mostly safety concerns), flow batteries have their own set of issues that can not be denied (low energy density, low round-trip efficiency, costly electrolyte). So before betting big on these batteries I'd wait for early signs of success. Enerox, Invinity, VionX are good at delivering glossy brochures but less so on delivering product.
