RE:Risk analysis

RE:Risk analysisBang on the money Obscure1. We are very fortunate indeed that they both share their experience and knowledge.. A huge THANK YOU from me as well. EOM.

For what it's worth, my investment strategy lies somewhere in the middle in comparison to Migraine and Experienced.

Based upon what I have read on this forum, Migraine has increased his portfolio 20x over the past two years. That is truly remarkable. To achieve that type of multiple, one has to be either incredible lucky or incredibly smart/knowledgable or most likely, a combination of the two.

Experienced is obviously at a later stage in the life cycle and has different priorities.

Both gentlemen have clearly "been there, done that".

When you get into the league that these two talented and may I say brilliant gentlemen play in, I think it really becomes a matter of risk analysis on the surface, and about andrenalin at a deeper level.

From a risk perspective, oil appears to be very risky on the surface due the inherent volatility of it being the poster boy of a geopolitical football. However, one can also look at oil as being the safest and best possible inflationary counter-measure in inflationary times.

Does that mean Migraine is a risk taker, or does that mean that Experienced is actually a greater risk taker because he has not been invested in oil for awhile (Experienced's words posted here).

Migraine must have adrenalin pumping through his veins during market hours, which is 24/7 when it comes to oil.  I have "been there, done that" and it is fun and scary, and makes you feel alive.  However, for me, it came at a cost to the most important people in my life who don't share my thrill seeking ways.

One has to admire Migraine's conviction to running on 3x margin (or even more-so with options) in what is already a volatile investment.

The fact that Experienced takes a long term view and looks "both ways" (a throwback to the years when Mckenzie used the slogan in their advertising) speaks of his knowledge and the balance that he has incorporated into his life.

As readers of this forum, I think we are incredibly fortunate to be able to learn from brilliant people who share their knowlege and experience without agendas.

All I can say is: "thanks".
