RE:Where is Baxter? Do they know PMX usage reduces "AKI"?Sum nice "back and foreth" from the "senior posters" ; - )
I was under the impression from reading and what-have-you, that Endotoxin was present in excess of 75% of those with "critical care required Covid19"..bearing in mind some are at the end of their life ( sadly ) , wouldn't the fact that removing endotoxin in those that DO survive be maningful as it applies to the "saving of their organs" ..kidneys to be more specific. Furthermore, aren't we simply putting additional long term pressure on our health care systems, both here and in Canada as a result of "AKI" and dialysis requirements? Does anyone know an 'AKI" expert? *Running SHORT on dialysis equipment??? The SAMI portable dialysis machine has been FDA approved for 4 YEARS!
COVID-19 Kidney Damage: A Known Complication
Some people suffering with severe cases of COVID-19 will show signs of kidney damage, even those who had no underlying kidney problems before they were infected with the coronavirus. Signs of kidney problems in patients with COVID-19 include high levels of protein or blood in the urine and abnormal blood work.
Studies indicate more than 30% of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 develop kidney injury, and more than 50% of patients in the intensive care unit with kidney injury may require dialysis. Sperati says early in the pandemic, some hospitals were running short on machines and sterile fluids needed to perform dialysis.
