RE:RE:RE:I could buy a house in 1983It certainly has worked for me. My lawyer even provided me with a simple form that provided everything needed to sell the home and also served as a worksheet we could use to submit offers back and forth.

On one home sale alone, not using a realtor resulted in $50k more in my pocket.  That being said, I agree it's not for everyone.  Most people are uncomfortable with negotiations.  In my mind having someone communicate your price/conditions is the only real service a realtor offers. 

If people are happy with realtors skimming a huge portion of their equity for the service received then all the best to them.  Having sold 3 homes on my own I've learned it is really quite easy.  The added benefit is that it avoids many of the looky loos that have no real intention of ever making an offer.
