RE:Off Topic

RE:Off TopicI wanted to make a point about ratings and "reads."

I made an "Off Topic" post with no content only 3 hours ago. It has had 40 "reads" already.

Moving through a list of posts by clicking "Newer Post" always registers as a "read" for the newer post. And then, we've recently had someone who refreshes a post's web page over and over, generating a huge number of reads, recently as high as 500 reads. I suppose that mentioning it we see those fun guys regularly doing it so read counts will be meaningless.

Of course, clicking on "Off Topic" is also driven by curiosity. "What's this?"

But ratings and reads and thumbs-up really only satisfy social media vanity. We all to be accepted by some club or another. And in the end...

I really, really, really-really-really hope that you like this post.
