Let's Dissect the most recent Hygear News 06/04/2022HyGear is pleased to announce that it has delivered another gas upgrading system that is designed and developed in the framework of KEROGREEN. What is KeroGreen? KEROGREEN (Production of sustainable aircraft grade kerosene from water and air powered by renewable electricity, through the splitting of CO2, syngas formation and Fischer-Tropsch synthesis) is a Research and Innovation Action (RIA), financed by the European Commission under the Call Topic "Competitive low-carbon-energy - new knowledge and technologies" https://www.kerogreen.eu/ The project is carried out by six partners from four European countries – Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and Norway. Who are the Partners?
The KEROGREEN project is coordinated by - the Dutch Institute for Fundamental Energy Research DIFFER
- the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology KIT (DE),
- the Flemish Institute for Technology Research VITO (BE),
- HyGear (NL) - an SME in special gas supply systems,
- Cerpotech (NO) - a ceramic powder SME and
- INERATEC (DE) - a synthetic fuel system SME.
The system design includes HyGear’s pressure swing adsorption (PSA) technology, which purifies carbon monoxide (CO) from a mixture that has high content of impurities of up to 87% of carbon dioxide (CO2), in order to efficiently produce high-grade CO at the lowest cost.

The PSA technology that is assembled and tested at HyGear’s facility in Arnhem, The Netherlands will be integrated into the complete process chain in Karlsruhe, Germany where one of the project partners, KIT is located. This integration process is a key step of the KEROGREEN technology. Once the technology is in place, a novel process for the production of sustainable aircraft-grade kerosene will be demonstrated
