RE:RE:Canadian LNG is a jewel' says Enbridge CEO Eastern Pipelines 101
1. There is enough capacity on the M&NE from Boston area. to supply Goldboro LNG. Not quite enough on the canadian portion, but simple compression additions would take care of that.
2. But you have to get the gas to the M&NE. There are two ways to do that.
3. From the Marcellus. At peak times the capacity available is tiny. And there is not going to be any more expansion coming into New England. Period. And the GoldoroLNG US export permit does not allow them to even apply for any expansions.
4. So most of the gas has to come from Alberta. That has to pass through Quebec to get to the M&NE. The total capacity of that pipe is not enough- even if there were no other users- to supply even a smaller GoldboroLNG. And the pipe was still near 100% capacity even after a recent compression addition.
Sorensen used to pretend that some easily achieved compresssion additions were going to do the job. He does not pretend any more. Someone posted a long podcast interview with him, maybe a month ago, He said several times: "Pipelines, pipelines, pipelines." "We need help on piplelines." Getting them approved, getting them funded.
If Repsol gets serious about exporting LNG from St. John... they will have exactly he same problem. (Except that they dont have to beg for cash.)
