Surge Energy Inc (Alberta) T.SGY

Alternate Symbol(s):  ZPTAF | T.SGY.DB.B

Surge Energy Inc. is a Canada-based oil focused exploration and production (E&P) company. The Company's business consists of the exploration, development and production of oil and gas from properties in Western Canada. It holds focused and operated light and medium gravity crude oil properties in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, characterized by large oil in place crude oil reservoirs with low recovery factors. It offers exposure to two of the five conventional oil growth plays in Canada: the Sparky and SE Saskatchewan. It holds a dominant land position and is drilling a mix of horizontal multi-frac and horizontal multi-lateral wells in the Sparky area. Sparky is a large, well established oil producing fairway in Western Canada. SE Saskatchewan is a focused operated asset base with light oil operating netbacks. SE Saskatchewan operates low-cost wells with short payouts and offers potential for continued area consolidation.

RE:Days like this…..

RE:Days like this…..When the results next month come out, I wonder what the reaction will be if there IS a dividend?  In all honesty, I think I'd rather pay down debt and buy back shares as we really have no idea where oil is going and I've been in this for the long haul - what's another 3 or 6 months of waiting?  But the long-suffering, far too much of an owner side of me would also take a dividend at this point.  I just don't know what people are thinking broadly and it's worrisome.  If people get fed up with no dividend, the stock is going to struggle even if they do the prudent thing and don't declare, using the other options available to them.

I guess in the end, it's all about expectations.  Investors are expecting one and if it isn't delivered, that'll be trouble, at least initially.
