RE:RE:RE:helping others to save the worldYes that is the point. Carbon emissions have a cost and negative impact. So the carbon tax is there to ensure the full cost of these emissions is more closely reflected in the fuel price. Same with raw sewage. If there was no sewage tax and system, how would you like it spewing into your street?

What message would that send?  It's OK to emit carbon if you have the money to pay for it?  So go ahead rich folks, pollute away if you have the money?  Little guy, too bad for you.   

And who is this "he" you speak of buying those offsets?  Like, his own personal dollars?  Or more taxpayer dollars?  That's another great look.  It's OK to emit carbon as long as you spend extra taxpayer dollars to try and make up for it.   Cause the budget will take care of itself.  Or so I am told as I don't pay attention to fiscal policy.
