Surge Energy Inc (Alberta) T.SGY

Alternate Symbol(s):  ZPTAF | T.SGY.DB.B

Surge Energy Inc. is a Canada-based oil focused exploration and production (E&P) company. The Company's business consists of the exploration, development and production of oil and gas from properties in Western Canada. It holds focused and operated light and medium gravity crude oil properties in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, characterized by large oil in place crude oil reservoirs with low recovery factors. It offers exposure to two of the five conventional oil growth plays in Canada: the Sparky and SE Saskatchewan. It holds a dominant land position and is drilling a mix of horizontal multi-frac and horizontal multi-lateral wells in the Sparky area. Sparky is a large, well established oil producing fairway in Western Canada. SE Saskatchewan is a focused operated asset base with light oil operating netbacks. SE Saskatchewan operates low-cost wells with short payouts and offers potential for continued area consolidation.

RE:RE:RE:RE:National taken out @ $ 9.33. New high ComingI was around for many of the earlier deals that Paul orchestered. He always managed to make the numbers allow an increase of dividends through the deal. Once a deal maker, always a deal maker. At present his only currency is shares, either as straight payment as per the last deal, or by raising the cash component through a bought deal.  My speculation is the latter strategy, as most sellers will be looking for cash.

If he does this along with the reintroduction of the dividend it will not have a lasting impact on share prices. Bought deals are always at a discount to market, so there will be the initial hit, but the dividend will quickly counter.

It would be good to see debt paid down at the same time, but Paul likes using other peoples money and seems to have signalled that he is happy with a $250 mil or so of debt.

BTW I did buy in to my own speculation and sold half my holdings in this rally. Only time will tell.
