Position of strength

Why did they adopt this phrase?

I've been following post on various boards for a year or so and, as far as I can tell, "position of strength" in relation to PTK was borne on a bulletin board. Many posters said they felt that a position of strength would be some type of supportive announcement to go along with the nasdaq listing.

There were voices that tried to temper those expectations but, again, many felt that a position of strength would involve something to back the uplisting.

So, why adopt a phrase that was clearly going to be a lightningrod for criticism if there were no associated announcement?
