IVY IS WHERE THE PUCK IS HEADINGIn fact, I think the puck is there. Some excellent posts and DD being done over at ST... Special thanks to Dugstr2, Tpan', D'Jack, LDU, our very own Nelly and others. It's BlackBerry Ivy folks... alligned with little known AWS. Gee, I wonder if customers will come. A sampling of ST posts.
$BB it appears that Netflix does not want to communicate with 24 different OEMS, or 24 ( or more) different software platforms. Netflix wants to communicate with one common software platform- bb ivy.
$BB $BB.CA :First mover advantage! AWS and BB had worked on the project long before the announcement. The official deal was the first for both but it's been thought out way before. We are now a year and a half in and the official product is out. The interest is "more than we can handle" said JC during last ER call. No one knows whether we would make any money on this project. The analysts don't think so. AWS and BB are the only two believing we are on to something. Your call, as for me I am still "more than all in". My question is what's with bunny and egg this weekend?
$BB Re: Advisory council members invited to join. "These include AWS, GEICO, Azure, Qualcomm, Deloitte, Netflix, Prime Video, Amazon Alexa, Solifi and several others". Logically they are probably all on side with only the possible exceptions of Azure and Netflix and Qualcomm and Deloitte. Prime and Alexa are part of Amazon and AWS is joint partner on IVY, so they will be included by default. Would Netflix not want to be included if Prime Video is? MSFT has already partnered with BlackBerry on 365 Suite and IVY is agnostic. MSFT would obviously want part of the cloud business, hence why wouldn't they want to be involved? Would seem counter to their best interest not to be involved. QUALCOMM and Deloitte already partnered with BB on other fronts as well and wouldn't male sense for them not to involved. Also there is chance the author of this article may have run it by BB before publishing. BB not the promotional types.
$BB Latest Get In: The Connected Vehicle Podcast: “There’s more time spent in standardizing those data sources and formats and then exposing them to third party developers than actually building the application itself. What’s happening with IVY is, it’s the only initiative where there’s an element of standardization all of the sensors, across all of the types of car makers. Since BlackBerry provides the foundational components, it has a really good chance of pretty much defining the flavor of the system, safety and security. We frankly think BlackBerry’s best days are ahead of it.”
