08:06 AM EDT, 04/18/2022 (MT Newswires) -- Velan Inc. (TSX: VLN), a manufacturer of industrial valves, on Monday said it has appointed Rishi Sharma as Executive Vice President Finance, effective immediately, and as Chief Financial Officer with effect from May 23.

Sharma will succeed Benoit Alain, who will be leaving the company effective May 23 after resigning in December 2021. He will report directly to Bruno Carbonaro, President and CEO, as well as Suzanne Blanchet, Chair of the audit committee of Velan.

Sharma began his career at Deloitte & Touche in 2005. He subsequently worked in senior roles across Bombardier (BBD-A.TO) since 2008. He joined Alstom after Bombardier sold its transportation business in January 2021 to the French company.
