The recent case the SEC pursued against David Sidoo and his partners in crime only corroborates my view about what has been happening across Canada's microcap market recently. It went down just like I described - the use of multiple trading accounts held by shell firms owned by ostensibly unrelated parties, etc.
The way it's so prevelant and yet the only enforcement is coming from the SEC makes me feels like I am investing in somewhere like Modolva or Nigeria, not a first world western country.
It's been like this for awhile. Note it was the SEC that went after Conrad Black, not the Canadian authorities. SEC even went after Martha Stewart for, if I remember correctly, about 60k USD worth of insiders trades. Both went to prison. Canadian companies don't stand a chance. Shares get crushed and manipulated all day long especially when a financing is on the horizon. There's a reason why 5 of the 6 largest companies in the world are US companies.
