I thought it was a yield issue with the chips. As in a high percentage was defect off the manufacturing line. No clue what % or how many chips that run was. 100, 1,000 or 5,000?

what is the normal failure rate in chip manufacturing? 50%? Sounds like it depends greatly on the wafer size.
got to figure even with a high yield issue they would have gotten a number of working chips.
