Anyone who knows anything about the industry knows: Stephen Quin is a mine builder !
Stephen Quin is a mining geologist with over 40 years’ experience in the
mining and exploration industry, including finance, development, and the
operation of producing companies. Over his career he has held upper
management positions with numerous mining and exploration companies. Most
recently Mr. Quin was President and CEO of Midas Gold Corp. (now Perpetua).
Prior to Perpetua, Stephen was President and COO of Capstone Mining, which
operated copper mines in Yukon and Mexico. In 2005, he co-founded Sherwood
Copper (which merged with Capstone in 2008) and took the Minto Mine from
acquisition, through feasibility and financing, and into production in two
years, on budget and on time. Prior to Sherwood/Capstone, Stephen was
Executive VP at Miramar Mining and its affiliate, Northern Orion, where he
led the acquisition and exploration of the Hope Bay gold project for Miramar
& the Agua Rica Cu-Au-Mo project for Northern Orion (in a JV with BHP). He
is a graduate of the Royal School of Mines, with a BSc (Hons) in Mining
Geology, a P.Geo, and a recipient of the EA Scholz Medal for excellence in
mine development and Selwyn Blaylock Medal for the advancement of national
and international exploration. Mr. Quin also serves on the board of Kutcho
Copper Corp.
