RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Commodity prices to stay elevated through 2024: World Bank Understood. You were long and were waiting for the strategic announcement; as we all were. Your stop loss was triggered. You remain on the SH board because you feel angered that CNC did not handle the supposed deal well. He promised something that didnt happen. I think you arent the only investor that feels this way - and Mark has some ways to go to be able to build up his credibility in terms of what he promises.
For me -the only question remaining now is - what value will this deposit have going forward? I have been trying to follow the majors and the car companies to get a clue as to where they plan to get their nickel for the NA market. But they keep thier cards VERY close to their chest and use NDAs with everyone they talk to.
My thoughts:
1) Its possible the strategic deal was a gamble that blew up in Marks face. He may have been trying to stop the bleeding becasue the stock price was falling due to the delay in drill results which he had no control over. He may have tried to put a floor on the sp by announcing a deadline on the strategic deal that he was getting close on. The sp rose - but the deal fell apart. People are angry and many are selling using it as the belief that either you cant trust Mark OR that he cannot deliver.
2) The timing for this deposit will be later this decade no matter how fast they go. I think their nickel would be availabel to the market in 2027ish. Car companies have made promises to the market for 2023/2024. So it makes sense that the current nickel demand cry doesnt affect our sp positively because our nickel wont be able to be here in time to solve OEMs current problems. Perhaps the Majors think they have time?
3) However, we have ALOT of nickel. Nickel IS going to be needed as a core piece of batteries going forward. LFP tech is advancing but still wouldnt allow OEMs to replace it in any car that will require power. People with trucks and strong engines wont suddenly be okay with driving the EV equivalent of regular sedan. I think Elon knows this. He could be tweeting about LFP to put pressure on nickel producers for better prices. But he is doing deals with VAle and BHP - so he knows he needs it. So where will the North American nickel come from? These Canadian deposits are the only options as I see it.
4) This drop is one of two things: 1) A major opportunity, or 2) a sign that the ship is sinking and nobody cares about our deposit.
Personally, my opinion is that the strategic situation was not handled well. Period. The stock is dropping for mainly this reason. But, I wont make the jump to say that the project wont go anywhere or that big companies don't care. I personally think that the world WILL need this nickel badly - but the big guys are busy trying to solve immediate problems to be able to focus on future problems.
Sorry for the typos - I wrote very quickly.
All the best.
