As they get closer to where they believe the miners are located, they'll probably slow down, to try to minimize the likelihood of causing damage to whereever they are sheltered. But, if they do reach that area and find the miners are no longer alive, they'll have no further reason to be cautious and will continue at a faster pace than presently.
