RE:RE:Tom Palmer and The NewmontsAll good observations, Pappy! Newmont has certainly prioritized Coffee over a few other projects. This can only mean interest in Casino to me, especially with the comment "strategic asset". My personal preference is that we go to Newmont, not Rio Tinto. Newmont has much more credibility for ESGs, FN's relations, and reclamation after a project is finished. In other words, Newmont has proven itself in the integrity camp. One NDP member in the Yukon has brought up human rights abuses way back when in Peru commited by Newmont's predecessor Goldcorp. These accusations are totally false. Human right abuses did occur, but they were carried out by a security company hired by Newmont/Goldcorp. Newmont/Goldcorp had no idea what was going on. This had more to do with corrupt leadership under Alberto Fujimori and this security company hired thugs tied to Fujimori's ruthless regime. Newmont will be cleared easily. This woman who is an MLA for the Yukon NDP is trying to make an issue, though. For the Yukon, Newmont is a much safer bet than Rio Tinto.
