Apparently they are only down to the 550 level, or approximately 30 m of water removed. The refuge station is at level 580, so only approximately half way there.
If those poor souls made it to the refuge station and passed away while waiting for rescue, Trevali is going to look like real donkey's for not mobliizing an international effort to urgently obtain more more pumps and pipelines, in my opinion.
They mention setting up another pipeline, so hopefully pumping is proceeding faster.
