I do not doubt you had a bad experience from a past insider trade, however, most studies indicate that insider buying is long term positive. Insider sells are less indicative because of the varying reasons for a sale{ house, education, etc.).
Not only did Toby purchase 10 mollion but most of his mgt team also purchased stock. The disappointing aspect was how little they owned before this purchase. Sure they had options but did not personally buy many shares themselves until now.
Overall very positive. Saying that, I am still voting NO for toby's 40% ownership stake amendment. I do not see how blocking any future takeover is beneficial to shareholders.
Thanks for your reply.
I agree that insider sells are totally meaningless.
I know that many studies as you mentioned suggest that insider buying is a positive indicator. That said, I have been investing since 1969 and worked for many years in the brokerage business before I retired about a dozen years ago. During that time period I have seen countless examples of people buying stock in a particular company because of insider buying only to be very disappointed with the results. My earlier post was intended as a cautionary note for people not to rely on this indicator to make investment decisions.
