New theory to shed light on fossils and finding oil

New theory to shed light on fossils and finding oil

I was watching the Nova TV show and it featured a new theory on why fossils are often found in great concentrations clustered together. Example: the massive number of dinoasaur fossils in the Dakotas. And the Dakotas have a lot of oil and gas. We know that fossil fuels do come from the remains of ancient life millions of years ago.

The mystery has been why sometimes fossil finds are indicative of oil and gas and other times not. Classic example: Arabia is full of oil and yet not that many fossils.

This new theory holds that gazillions of years ago the earth was hit by giant meteors that caused massive tsunamis that swept away life and life remains and concentrated them in areas they did not originate in.

Namibia has one of the largest and oldest deserts on earth and it has been thought it never supported substantial life because of the lack of water. However fossils and dinosaur tracks have been found in a few certain areas of Namibia.

What if life was abundant in prehistoric Namibian areas but swept away and concentrated in a few select areas as yet as undiscovered? This theory goes a long way in explaining why certain areas of the Mid-East have an abundance of oil (Saudi Arabia, etc.) and others nothing (Israel).

This theory could reinforce the idea that indeed Namibia could be the next Saudi Arabia if the drillings hit just the right spots.
