Constellation can buy fullcontrol ofCanopy any time it wants. So far the conglomeration has locked up a lot of US potpreneurs with loan guarantees and they even locked up Acreage for 30-40 million dollars.
Pretty good for a company that they once valued at between 3-4 billion dollars. Just need to print up some share certificates for amalgamation day when Canopy exercises their right to rto Acreage. About 3 shares of Acreage fixed gets you 1 share of Canopy which at today's values is discounted. For Acreage floating shares, the deal is that Canopy can buy those shares for $6 ish US which is a 5 bagger to today's sp.
Canopy has 1.37 billion in their account and big brother Constellation guiding them with intentions to be a major infused cannabinoid beverage player to complement their beverage alcohol business.
They have hooks in several like minded businesses that will complement their plan to be leadership and are leading the pack to date.
It would be great if the US Feds did some proper politickin' and fulfill their promise to legalize or at least decriminalize or non US potpreneurs just drop their concerns and rely on the same State Law protection that the MSO's are.
Canopy is moving on the US market despite the Fed still having the heavy penalties on their books and they are doing that through branding deals for some great brands that are being produced by US companies. They have also built 300k sq feet of potential in New York for storage, manufacture or both. My guess is that there is a bottling line in that facility capable of producing cannabinoid infused beverages.
Canopy has their focus on beverages as the most likely to grow segment of the skus and Constellation wants to be a part of that success because their crystal ball told them that they either join the movement or are on the outside looking in.
Some Federal blanket legislation that would "trigger" the pent up potential of Interstate commerce for cannabinoids would be best or we can just keep going one State at a time to complement the 19 States that currently allow legal adult rec use.
Cannabinoid infused beverages are a no-brainer as healthier options than beverage alcohol but I suspect there are some politicians relying on those political contributions by Big Alcohol which could be a part of the delay to enthusiastically launch the great American greenrush.
There are a lot of supporters of marijuana and hemp businesses, too many! Any players that were half-hearted but jumped on board anyway will succumb to those with financing and better business practices. The biggies are most likely to succeed and the US marketpla ce is the place to do that, with some political co-operation.
It is tough for the old system to welcome new players and there is a whole faction of do-gooders that want to protect us from ourselves thus the stringent licensing and inspections and testing that have become roadblocks to a free-enterprise marijuana and hemp business.
The US will eventually get the support for potpreneurs that the voters want and non US players will establish businesses and plant their flags on US soil.
It is easy to disrespect marijauna and hemp, especially when it is out of favour because it overheated and is correcting. I believe that Canopy will be standing proud at the front of the line because they are proactive and moving towards the future and actually helping to write the future as they see it.
When the investment community accepts that cannabinoids have their place this will sort itself out and the cream will rise to the top. Canopy will be there and investors will want to be a part of it. Those US investors that aren't invested in it will want to be and shares will be in short supply. The Acreage deal is inked to increase the sharefloat of Canopy shares for the rto of Acreage and if you want some Canopy, Acreage is one way to set that up.
If Canopy keeps picking up assets of potential I hope they take a look at Tinley's Beverages in Long Beach, Cali. They are just hitting their stride as a major licensed cannbinoid bottler in California and also making their way to Canadian shelves. Could be a good fit for Canopy on the west coast for rapid flag planting.
