RE:Good endorsement from Dr. Jerome Adams - Antibody tests The issue seems to be that the FDA (for now) is worried that Antibody tests might somehow discourage vaccinations, by giving people a false sense of protection when they receive an objective measure of antibody protection (that arguably can be subjective in that the interpretation of results may differ from person to person).
As someone who has educated himself on the science of antibody tests, I worry that the opposite problem may have been created by teh FDA in their latest stance. Right now, sans antibody tests, people are
ASSUMING that they have antibody protection based on having had a prior infection or having had vaccinations. However we all know that those protections wane over time, and the assumption that you are "safe", at some point become invalid
for every person in time.
Continual vaccinations become the only means of protection - whether warranted or not.
There needs to be some measure of protection (however vague) ...versus nothing at all.
Especially for the immunocompromised, the elderly, and for those health conscious individuals that understand that measurements are guides only and give you probablitlies of protection.
For now, we are all being painted with the "dumb brush" (i.e some knowledge is dangerous to some, and may give some a "false sense" of security - so lets keep
everyone in the dark, and
"hope" that they continue to get vaccinations - with whatever inherent or unknown risks are associated with ongoing or over-vaccintion)
