I've been wirh RBC for 40+ years and refinanced so I could invest. End of last year, they gave me the same BS even though I'm financially sound. I was doing some renos as well. I was tentatively approved elsewhere so I threatened to leave RBC if they did not escalate my request to someone that has the authority to be flexible. They got back to me the next day and offered some very flexible options, combinations, secured and unsecured. I'm still with them.
