Shockingly Mary has come out in support of African energy The colorful, always controversial, and at times a radical hard core environmentalist Mary Robinson has come out and now supports African energy, mainly natural gas.
Mary is one of these amazing people that comes from a humble background and yet somehow, someway, unexplainably ascends to lofty positions. She started out at the bottom of Irish politics and plundered her way into the Irish Presidency. From then on it was one thing after another until she landed up as the UN Global energy czar where she mercilessly attacked energy like a hungry junk yard pit bull.
But she has come out for African energy exploration, development, and production. Never thought I would see the day! Hats off to her! See below from OP:
'In an unexpected move, the ex-UN climate envoy, Mary Robinson, is advocating for the African region to develop its natural gas resources to support the continent’s energy security. Despite the need to cut global greenhouse gas emissions, Robinson encourages the use of natural gas in Africa to meet the growing energy demand. She explains, “Africa is trying to get its voice out about its needs for just, equitable energy, and of course, that implies some use of gas as a just transition.” '
