RE:RE:Four main planks in Nuttall's thesisA few simple questions
First why are not people replacing nat gas fired appliances by electricity ??
Second what is the overall efficiency of using gasoline in a Tesla sized automobile versus electricity powered by nat gas on a combined cycle ? ( combining power generation efficiency and transmission losses)
Third if 10 % of the cars in the USA are EV's , how much will that reduce crude consumption by, and how does that relate to present shortages ? Similarly how much will that increase nat gas consmption by?
Same question for diesel trucks ( whch are more efficient than gasoline engines )
Last , what is the limit on wind power and solar within the grid system so that enough energy can be stored not only to meet daily demand fluctuations but seasonal demand fluctuations as well ?
Notice that I have not even begun to question capex costs for the grid transformation nor the effect of EV 's on their own ESG issues
My feeling is that petroleum and particularly nat gas will be around for a very long time indeed !!
