RE:RE:RE:RE:Thank Heavens We Don't Have American Style Gun Violence Eh ?Stiffer penalties to ALL crime in Canada need to be enacted, and serve as deterrents instead of the limp wristed "catch and release" policy Can-Er-DUH currently practices. Perhaps this country should be looking to adopt some of Saudi Arabia's punishment policies. For example, theft is punished by the amputation of the offender's right hand, and armed or highway robbery ( like carjacking), may be punished by execution, crucifixion, or amputation of hands and feet from opposite sides of the body, depending on the severity of the offense.
Maybe Can-Er-DUH could start publicly flogging convicted drunk drivers down at Nathan Philip's square every Sunday afternoon. First offense 50 lashes. Watch drunk driving all but disappear, and watch the number of repeat offenders drop to zero. Can-Er-DUH could easily reduce crime, they just ain't THAT serious about doing so.

Even the most determined and planning pyschopath back in the day had to sit in a clock tower with a deer rifle and rechamber a round after a shot and was usually taken out before he emptied his clip.
There is no accounting for the loose screws in society especially if you close the mental facilities that were trying to treat them and dump them on the street and make them sink or swim. But you do not have to allow them easy access to mass target killing machines.
The shooter in Ulvade bought his guns and ammo and body armour legally. He shouldn't have been allowed to buy a slingshot. I am sure any one of the parents of the slain children in Ulvade would trade visiting their kids in the hospital for life altering injuries over attending their funerals.
